Quaking aspen

Named for the sound it makes when shaken by the wind, the quaking aspen is an exceptional tree for many reasons. It provides beauty to plots of lands on which it resides and also has the widest natural range of any other tree in North America (Arbor Day Foundation, 2018)! The only tree of its kind on Seton Hill’s campus, the quaking aspen tree is located north of Maura Hall in the Maura courtyard. This unique tree was dedicated in honor of Sister Colette Toler by the Class of 1998 at the Junior Class Tree Planting.
