NOrway Maple

Acer platanoides

Of the many trees on campus, the Norway maple is one of the most abundant. A Crimson King maple, a type of Norway maple, was planted by the Class of 2018 at the Junior Class tree planting in front of the Administration building in 2017 (bottom right). The Class of 2018 dedicated their tree to the First 100 Classes of Seton Hill. The "maple lane” that once lead away from the cemetery in the direction of what is now Havey Hall was a popular walking path taken by students (bottom left). Maple lane resided there until the construction of Havey Hall and Reeves Memorial Library. Today, only one Norway maple remains.
